Hey guys, I thought I’d take a break from the fitness stuff for a bit and write about other things.
So how about some music related stuff?
Making The Switch:
Throughout high school and for a while after I had been playing guitar in a bunch of pop punk bands. When i was 19, a buddy of mine got a gig playing drums for a pop singer and they needed a bass player as well. I borrowed a friends bass, learned the songs, auditioned and got the gig. I’ve been playing bass ever since!
After deciding to make switch to a “bass player”, I went to buy my first bass at Guitar Center. I decided on an American Fender Jazz Bass. I didn’t have enough money to drop $1,200 on the guitar (even though it was on “sale”) so I applied for the GC credit card to finance the rest of the money. After jamming on it and making my decision, I took it up to the register to make the purchase. When the sales rep scanned it, it came up at the price of $599. it turned out that there was some kind of mistake and the manager had to be called. The manager came and tried to figure out what the problem was but couldn’t fix it. He said, “well, if it rings up for $599, then we have to sell it to him for that price!” The sales rep was pretty jealous and I walked out of the store with my new bass for WAY less than I had intended on getting it for.
Anyway, I’m gonna keep it short this week…
I’m going to try and do some bass covers for fun, so please leave a comment on this blog and let me know which song you’d like to see a bass cover of! I’ll put it up on a future blog after I record it for you!
In the meantime, here’s a cover I did a while back:
